The Gateway and Bridge are tools that allow you to connect your Burner to a desktop browser using either an NFC-enabled smartphone or a compatible NFC reader. This article provides an overview of each tool’s functionality, explains how they enable secure access to BurnerOS from your desktop and includes recommendations on compatible NFC readers.
Gateway
This tool lets you use your smartphone as an NFC reader instead of a physical card reader. It allows you to scan your Burner using your smartphone and securely send signatures or other relevant information to BurnerOS running on your desktop browser.
Bridge
This tool allows your desktop computer to communicate directly with a physical USB NFC reader. When the HaLo Bridge is running, BurnerOS, running on your desktop browser, can interact with the NFC reader to sign or authenticate information using your Burner.
For more information on these tools and technical information on how to programmatically interact with HaLo tags from a web browser, mobile application, or desktop, check out the LibHaLo GitHub page.
NFC Reader Recommendations
If you plan to use Gateway, you’ll need a compatible NFC reader. We recommend the ACR1252U NFC Reader III (left) for the best experience, but if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly option, the ACR122U NFC Reader (right) is also compatible. Both options are available for purchase on Amazon and other online retailers.
If you’re ready to set up and use Gateway and Bridge, follow the step-by-step guide here to get started.
